Camp Director: Erin Carpenter

Erin graduated from Appalachian State University first in May 2006 receiving a Bacholor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning and a minor in Psychology and again in May 2011 receiving a Masters of Arts in the College Student Development program. Erin has worked as a professional for University Recreation since 2006; her titles include former Informal Recreation Coordinator, current Assistant Director for Club Sports and the Camp Directors since it's inagural year, 2007. As an undergrad, she worked for UREC in a varity of program areas since 2002.

Erin is originally from Mooresville, NC where she grew up playing softball, being with her family and going out on the lake. By becoming a local resident, she enjoys golf, officiating, her social life, traveling, sporting events, live music and participating in several Intramural Sports.

Erin's favorite thing about camp is the opportunities to be a kid again!

Camp Assistant Director - Programming: Jamie S. Williams

Jamie S. Williams is the  Intramural Coordinator and  Camp UREC Assistant Director. She graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelors of Art in Mathematics before completing a Master of Arts in College Student Development at Appalachian State University. While at UNCC she was an Intramural Supervisor and League Planner.

Jamie is originally from Spencer, VA but moved to Salisbury, NC at the age of 12. In her spare time she likes to do community services and spend time with family and friends.

Camp Assistant Director - Registration: Angela Shook

Angela graduated from Appalachian State University in December 2007, receiving Bachelor of Science Degrees in Psychology & Criminal Justice and again in December 2009 receiving a Master of Science in Criminal Justice & Criminology. Angela has worked for University Recreation since August 2004 in a variety of positions and she is currently the Informal Recreation Coordinator.

Angela grew up in Boone and in her spare time, she enjoys music, playing golf, basketball, traveling, being outside, and spending time with family! She is really excited to be helping with Camp UREC this year!

Camp Assistant Director - Older Camper Programming: Nancy Rogers

Nancy is originally from the Adirondack/Lake Champlain region of New York State. She graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management.  Nancy is also a graduate of the Colorado Springs, Colorado and the Charlotte, North Carolina Police Academies. She was a Park Ranger with Colorado Parks and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation Department, where she also served as an Environmental Education Specialist. 

Nancy came to ASU in 2007 and worked at Camp Broadstone as the Office Manager and most recently served as the Assistant Director there. In January of 2012 she moved to University Recreation where she serves as the Informal Coordinator. Nancy oversees the CIT and Adventure Week programs for Camp UREC. 

In her spare time she enjoys gardening, reading, hiking and camping.

Camp Assistant Director - Programming: Lauren Mayes

Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise, Sport, and Health Education with a concentration in Health Promotion from Radford University and a Master’s of Science in Exercise Science and Wellness from Old Dominion University. Lauren joined University Recreation in July of 2012 as the Assistant Director for Fitness and as a Camp Director for Camp UREC.

Lauren is originally from Chesapeake, VA and in her spare time she enjoys running, teaching group fitness classes, and spending time with her friends and family. Since she is new to the area, she is having fun exploring Boone and all of its outdoor activities!

Laurens favorite thing about camp is being able to get to know the campers!
